A Room with A View

The Room?
The Kichen at Florence and Deppak's home flat on the 29th. floor, somewhere in the west side of Singapore.

The View?
Among other buildings, you can see the neighboring block of flats, which basically looks like the one I was perched in when taking these pictures.Getting around Singapore is very easy , thanks to its excellent public transport system.

In this picture , you'll see the red top of an SBS (Singapore Bus System?) bus and the yellow taxi (CitiCab) and a blue taxi (Comfort taxi). There are eight taxi companies in little Singapore. Count them: Premier Taxis, Prime Taxi, Yellow-top Taxi, CitiCab, Smart Cabs, Comfort Taxi, TransCab, SMT Taxi!
Look closely and you'll be able to see the raised train track and the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) train. It's just a 5 minute walk from where this photo was taken. (You may click on photos for larger view)

Karen, the picture of the buildings and surrounding areas in Singapore are fantastic. The buildings are wonderfully placed allowing for green spaces and parklike area. A city built in just the last 40 years is modern and carefully planned for the future unlike so many cities in America and Europe. But, right now the temperature shown in the paper each day show extreme heat and no end. That part would be hard for me. Enjoy this time and place. All my best Aunty Maeve

For people who know me, they know that one of the things I'm looking forward to when I go to Singapore next week is riding around on the MRT and exploring the city. I sure wish Seattle would get something like that!
